ParentSquare

Beginning this school year, North Kansas City Schools uses ParentSquare as our primary communication platform for families. ParentSquare brings together many of the communication tools previously used across the district into one place. Through ParentSquare, you'll receive school and classroom updates, communicate directly with staff, complete forms, sign permission slips, RSVP for events, and receive emergency notifications – all from one platform.

Your ParentSquare account is automatically created using the contact information you provide during enrollment. For this reason, it is critical to check your contact information each year and ensure it is correct. Families can access ParentSquare through a web browser, the free mobile app, email, or text messages.

What is ParentSquare used for?

  • School and district announcements
  • Classroom updates from teachers
  • Emergency notifications and weather-related messages
  • Direct messages between families and staff
  • Permission slips and electronic forms
  • Parent-teacher conference scheduling
  • Event sign-ups and volunteer opportunities
  • Athletic, activity, and club communication
  • Attendance notifications and other important reminders

Download the ParentSquare App

The ParentSquare app provides the easiest way to receive notifications, send messages, complete forms, and stay connected throughout the school year. Downloading the app is highly recommended, but not required.

Google Play Store

Even if you choose not to use the app, you'll still receive school communications through email and text messages.

Getting Started

There is no registration process required for families. If your contact information is included in PowerSchool, you already have a ParentSquare account. To get started:

  1. Download the ParentSquare app (Apple or Android) or visit the ParentSquare website.
  2. Sign in using the email address or phone number associated with your student's enrollment.
  3. Verify your contact information.
  4. Choose your notification and language preferences.

Even if you choose not to use the app, you'll still receive school communications through email and text messages.

Language & Translation

ParentSquare includes automatic translation in more than 100 languages. You can select your preferred language in your account settings or call your school for assistance. Once you set your language:

  • School and classroom messages are automatically translated.
  • You can send messages to teachers in your preferred language.
  • Staff receive your message in English and can reply in English. ParentSquare automatically translates their response back into your preferred language.

This makes it easier for families to communicate with schools in the language they're most comfortable using.
