No experience needed!
Color Guard- Perform at middle school football halftime shows
Winter Guard- Perform at middle school basketball halftime shows.
We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 4:45. Buses are provided after practices. Gator Guard- Color Guard members will learn the routines to Northtown Fight Song and Alma Matter. The Winter Guard will perform a floor show. This is a great chance to learn guard basics in preparation for high school Color/Winter Guard. Members will have the chance to learn new flag skills and how to work as a team. You do not need a physical to join color guard, but you do need to pay the one-time $50 athletic fee ($0 for free/reduced lunch). Members are expected to keep up with their grades and exhibit positive gator traits.
Athletes will tryout and will be expected to be at all practices and games. Missing practices or games due to poor grades, behavior, absences, etc. will result in removal from the team. Missing 3 practices will put the athlete on probation. Missing 6 practices will remove the athlete from the team.
A full color guard uniform (tunic and leggings) and performance equipment will be provided for games. We will also check out a practice flag to athletes that make the team in order for them to practice at home. If the equipment is damaged, lost, not turned in the condition it was in when given out, the responsibility of paying the replacement cost will be on the athlete.
If you will not be able to attend practice or a game, a coach needs to know BEFORE the event. This is a commitment; athletes are expected to be at all events. Too many missed practices/games will result in not being able to perform at a game, or removal from the team. Grades will be checked every day there is a practice or a game. Poor grades can result in being held out of practice. According to MSHSAA, if you have OSS or miss more than half the school day, the day of a game or practice, you cannot participate. Being at school is a priority. You are a student athlete; this means that you are a STUDENT first. If academics, attendance, or behavior starts to decline, you will have a meeting with the coaches, and any other necessary personnel. Missing practices or performances due to poor grades, behavior, absences, etc. will result in removal from the team.
